The match between KHE and Physics showcased KHE’s dominance in possession and
attacking prowess. The game kicked off with Shakiru Awoyemi scoring a
spectacular goal from a direct free kick in the 8th minute, giving KHE an
early lead. The match saw its first booking when Olufemi Samuel of KHE was
penalized for a rash tackle on a Physics attacker in the 20th minute. Just
three minutes later, Ashimi Oluwasemilore received a yellow card for stopping
a promising attack with a kick.
KHE doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Shakiru Awoyemi tapped in a
well-placed pass from Oni Oluwaseun. The first half concluded with KHE
continuing to create numerous chances, much to the delight of their fans.
The second half mirrored the first, with KHE maintaining their dominance and
creating several opportunities in the final third. Their relentless pressure
paid off when Bemiwo’s header hit the woodwork, leading to a chaotic sequence
where Shakiru Awoyemi eventually scored his second goal after a series of
dribbles and rebounds, completing his hat-trick in the 48th minute.
Physics struggled to mount any significant offense, primarily focusing on
defense. In the 58th minute, Olatunji Samson was booked for a handball,
resulting in a penalty for Physics. Their captain, Akinwande Kunle,
successfully converted the penalty, denying KHE a clean sheet.
In the dying moments of the game, Agboola Yusuf received KHE’s fourth booking,
matching the number of yellow cards they had accumulated in their previous
three matches combined. The match ended with a 3-1 victory for KHE.
KHE will be playing their 10th final tomorrow against first-time finalists
Mathematics while Physics will face English in the third-place match,
competing for the bronze medal.
