Joshua Songoyoyiwa extended English language department’s lead in the 22nd minute, in continuation of their dominance. David Victor received the third booking of the evening in the 25th minute following a foul as the first half came to an end. Chemistry had a few chances but failed to capitalize on them, allowing English to maintain control throughout the half. The second half saw English pick up right where they left off, extending their dominance. Opeolu Olufunsho of Chemistry bagged the last yellow card of the match in the 38th minute while trying to stop English from scoring. English however sealed the game with a third goal in the 55th minute courtesy, Joshua Songoyoyiwa.
The English goalkeeper made two crucial saves, while the Chemistry goalkeeper made six saves, trying to keep his team in the match. The game ended 3-0 in favour of the English Department, with Joshua Songoyoyiwa, who bagged a brace walking away with the man of the match award.
Chemistry will look to improve in the next edition of the competition, while English awaits the results of tomorrow’s match from Group B to find out their semi-final opponent.
