The match between the Mathematics and ISS/FRC Departments was a tightly
contested affair, with both teams creating numerous chances but
ultimately unable to find the back of the net. Akinlabi Praise of
ISS/FRE made a bad tackle which was cautioned by the referee in the 21st
minute.
Olaleke Victor received the second booking of the game trying to stop
a promising Mathematics attack in the 23rd minute, at this stage the
state of the game was tense as Ogunrinde Emmanuel of Mathematics and
Adepoju Inioluwa of ISS/FRC was booked in the 24th and 38th
minutes respectively. Defenders of both teams were resilient,
effectively defending their boxes and ensuring a goalless draw.
The standout performer of the match was the ISS/FRC goalkeeper, Olaosebikan
Mujeeb, whose exceptional performance earned him the man of the match award
whose saves were crucial in keeping ISS/FRC in the game and denying
Mathematics any goals.
Mathematics’ hopes of reaching the semi-finals now hinge on the outcome
of the match between KHE and Biology. The goalless draw leaves them in a
precarious position as they await the result that will determine their
fate in the tournament. On the other hand, despite their best efforts,
ISS/FRE bowed out of the competition with 2 points from 2 draws and a
loss.
