The highly anticipated match between the KHE and Mathematics Departments lived up to the expectations of the fans, delivering an exciting and competitive encounter. KHE started comfortably, scoring an early goal in the 7th minute. Their hard work was rewarded again with another goal in the 16th minute, putting them firmly in control as the first half ended.
Despite their efforts, the Mathematics Department couldn’t find the back of the net in the first half. However, their resilience paid off 18 minutes into the second half when they scored a goal that boosted their morale. Just one minute later, KHE responded immediately, restoring their two-goal lead and making it 3-1.
Mathematics mounted pressure and played with grit, and their persistence was rewarded in the last minute of the second half with a goal, narrowing the deficit to 3-2. However, it was too little too late as the match ended 3-2 in favor of KHE.
With this victory, KHE became the first team to book a place in the semi-finals. Opadeji Bemiwo, who scored a brace, was awarded the man of the match for his outstanding performance.
KHE with 6 points will be playing Biology in their last group match on the 20th of July, 2024. Mathematics, on 3 points, will be looking for a win in their last preliminary game against ISS/FRC to progress to the semi-final.
