SSAN BRUSHES SECPANE ASIDE IN AN INTERESTING CONTEST

The encounter between SSAN and SECPANE started with both teams displaying moments of brilliance, but SECPANE showed more promise in the opening exchanges. SSAN, however, fought fiercely in midfield, with Nadeem Samod leading the charge as they sought to take control of the game.

SECPANE’s Bisiriyu Afeez was booked in the 22nd minute for a foul deep in his own half, setting the tone for a physical midfield battle. Just three minutes later, SSAN found the breakthrough as Salaam Faruq finished off a well-executed team move, converting a pass from Ogunsegbe Ebenezer to give his side a 1-0 lead.

SECPANE was rattled by the goal, and it took a goal-line clearance from Bisiriyu Afeez to prevent SSAN from doubling their advantage. Lawal Aleem stood out with his dribbling skills, consistently beating his markers, but he struggled to find the right pass to extend SSAN’s lead.

In the 27th minute, SSAN came agonizingly close to a second goal when a curling free kick from Najeem Samod beat the SECPANE goalkeeper but was denied by the crossbar. SECPANE responded by pushing forward towards the end of the first half, but they posed little threat to SSAN’s goalkeeper.

The second half saw a more balanced contest, with both teams creating chances but lacking the finishing touch to alter the scoreline. The two goalkeepers were in fine form, making crucial saves to keep their sides in the game.

Despite the end-to-end action, neither team could add to the score, and the match ended with SSAN securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory. SSAN now awaits the result of tomorrow's SECPANE vs. VESA match on October 9, 2024, to determine whether their win will be enough to qualify for the last four. SECPANE will be looking to avoid defeat to keep their own qualification hopes alive. Najeem Samod (SSAN) was named the man of the match.
