The Mathematics Department showcased their superiority in a well-fought match against the Biology Department, securing a 2-0 victory. From start to finish, Mathematics dominated the game, creating a few chances in the first half and significantly more in the second half, which drew several saves from the Biology goalkeeper.
The breakthrough came in the 39th minute when Mathematics captain Abiodun Odebode coolly converted a penalty after a handball incident following a corner kick.
Just four minutes later, Mathematics doubled their lead with a
brilliant header from Rufus Ayoade, again capitalizing on a corner kick.
Biology struggled to find their rhythm and were booked twice for fouls committed by Ridwan and Mayowa. Despite their efforts, they couldn't penetrate the Mathematics defense or trouble their goalkeeper significantly.
Ajoba Francis, the Mathematics right back, earned the man of the match award for his exceptional performance, contributing both defensively and offensively to his team's success.
The final whistle confirmed a 2-0 win for Mathematics, a testament to their dominance and clinical finishing.
Biology will face ISS/FRC on July 17, 2024, aiming to bounce back from this defeat. Meanwhile, Mathematics will prepare to take on KHE on July 18, 2024 hoping to continue their winning streak.
