The match between CRS and Physics was closely contested, with Physics
displaying early flashes of brilliance. Physics took the lead in the 8th
minute with a wonderful strike from Akinwande Kunle. The game's intensity
was evident as Abdul Wasiu Yusuf of Physics received the first booking of
the match in the 21st minute after a late tackle on a CRS player. Shortly
after, Sola was booked in the 26th minute for a foul on a Physics
player.
The second half saw CRS pushing hard for an equalizer, but they were
cautioned again in the 33rd minute when Pelumi committed a foul. Physics
sealed their victory in the 48th minute when Ayobs fouled a Physics
attacker in the penalty box. Akinwande Kunle stepped up and calmly slotted
the ball into the net, scoring his second goal of the match.
Following the second goal, Physics played confidently and successfully
rebuffed several chances created by CRS. The game ended 2-0 in favor of
Physics, with Akinwande Kunle winning the man of the match award for his
all-round performance.
Physics will face a familiar foe KHE in the semi-final on Monday, 22nd of
July, 2024, after narrowly missing the group's top spot due to an inferior
goal difference to English while CRS will take the positives from this
competition to prepare better for the next tournament.
